The rural electricity system development in Africa still are confronted with many difficulties and challenges, about 500 millons people in Africa still have no access to electricity. In order to solve the problem, more and more mini grid developers start to build solar generating set in the remote area. The CA168 is special design for mini grid project with built-in international starndard prepayment algorithm, advanced keypad prepayment model, smart remotely data collection and analysis. The meter can trip automatically when the credit is used up, even though without connect with the master station, it works stand alone; Integrate with the local other payment platform for more convenient payment method; Remote connection makes monitoring power consumption in real-time or control the meter remotely.

Revenue collection and monitor are two keys that each one of mini-grid or micro-grid developers want. Card type prepayment meter and PLC communication are frequently used solutions. However none of them fit into Mini-grid scenario. Card type meters usually operate with its manufacturer's proprietary prepayment standard, therefore will not integrate with any other solution. Besides card meters need card contact for any top-up or data exchange, which in reality, gives a lot of trouble such as limit of POS business hours, card loss, card damage. PLC may work in main grid. But mini-grid's unstable power flow vastly interferes PLC communication, which leads to connection loss.
